Omega-3
What are Omega 3 Benefits?

Omega 3 benefits are truly astounding in scope; can reduce heart diseases, aid in weight loss, improve blood circulation, improve our immune system.. and so much more that we’ll list in this article.

Look what Mayo Clinic says about Omega 3 Benefits:
“There is evidence from multiple studies supporting intake of recommended amounts of DHA and EPA in the form of dietary fish or fish oil supplements lowers triglycerides, reduces the risk of death, heart attack, dangerous abnormal heart rhythms, and strokes in people with known cardiovascular disease, slows the buildup of atherosclerotic plaques ("hardening of the arteries"), and lowers blood pressure slightly.”

Mayo Clinic also state potential Omega 3 side-affects:
“However, high doses may have harmful effects, such as an increased risk of bleeding. Although similar benefits are proposed for alpha-linolenic acid, scientific evidence is less compelling, and beneficial effects may be less pronounced.”

How is Omega-3 found?
There are many forms, but the most popular natural omega 3 is found in fish oil and flax seed.  Specifically, fish high in natural omega 3 are - albacore tuna, herring, mackerel, sardines, lake trout and salmon.

Because Omega 3 has such a plethora of benefits, most of us choose supplements to insure we’re receiving the beneficial amounts.

Tell me about the weight loss benefits:
Yes, since this is a diet related website, we’ll detail the weight loss avenue first.  According to research conducted at the University of South Australia, fish oil aids in the weight loss process.  Their studies showed that fish oil improved the effectiveness of exercise in reducing weight.

Volunteers given a fish oil diet showed greater weight loss as compared to those who did not consume fish oil diet. Exercise combined with fish oil had a positive effect on the body shape and body composition of the patients.
