Vitamin D : Dr. Oz shared that over 50% of Americans are deficient in vitamin D - He recommends 1000 IU daily.
Antioxidants : 5 servings daily. Acai berries have the most concentration of antioxidants with 10 times more antioxidants than red grapes and 10 to 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine.
Calcium : 600mg of calcium 2 to (3 times a day if you're post menopause or otherwise need extra calcium) and 200mg of magnesium twice a day.
DHA Omega-3 : Similar to fish oil, says Dr. Oz, DHA omega-3 comes in a pill form but doesn't have the side effects of fish oil - he recommends 600mg a day.
Baby Aspirin: 2 baby aspirin a day for people over 40 is Dr. Oz's suggested dose - 2 baby aspirin have half the amount of 1 regular aspirin. Why take aspirin? Dr. Oz says, 'Because aspirin absolutely benefits the heart and prevents clots from suddenly closing off an artery.'
Multivitamin: Dr. Oz suggests cutting a multivitamin in half and taking 1 half in the morning and 1 half in the evening - it will spread the vitamin intake evenly throughout the day. Its important that we take the proper amounts of vitamins for optimum health. Ideally, we'd get all the vitamins and minerals our bodies need through food intake, but in real life, we know that usually doesn't occur.
